MOH Launches an Awareness Campaign on Illegal Caesarean Sections & Premature Birth

Ministry of Health has launched an awareness campaign about violating caesarean sections and preterm birth, which will last until August 19, 2023, targeting maternity departments in private health institutions.

The Ministry stated that among the most prominent violations are the absence of rooms equipped for normal childbirth, absence of a special hospitalization department for childbirth, absence of a neonatal consultant, exceeding of the percentage of caesarean sections without a scientific reason, and increase in the practice of artificial labor without a real medical justification, in addition to transcend specialization (The doctor is not qualified "specialist-consultant") to perform a caesarean section.
Ministry of Health confirmed that it will monitor health facilities in the field through auditing teams, to ensure compliance with health standards in those clinics, correct the shortcomings, control continuous violations, and impose legal penalties against violators.
The ministry urged everyone to report such violations on the call center 937.
